• James Edwards 1925-1991
African American Surrealist Artist , also a veteran of WWII. He studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Academie Julian in Paris. He exhibited widely in regional and international galleries and worked from Princeton, NJ, where he was a longtime resident ( he moved to Princeton from New York to raise his young family in a more comfortable environment for Black people — he and his wife read an article in Ebony Magazine about Princeton and the town’s development of interracial housing) He was also featured in the Antologia Figurativa of International Artists, published in Rome 1968.
It is very easy to research this artist on the web and I encourage lovers of art & history to do so, as he worked along side many other important and influential African American Artists of the 20th century. I’m excited to share the other pieces I have of his with y’all in the future ✨
